Director: Pritam

Lyricist: Mayur Puri

If you are looking forward to a hearty, but senseless laugh, Singh is Kinng is just the movie for you. It is a riot of laughs, but strictly not for those who want to use their brains. The storyline of ‘Singh is Kinng’, of ‘Good vs. Bad’ or ‘Triumph of Good over Evil’, has been repeated many times on screen, making it too clichéd. However, the way it has been presented on-screen, is what makes you stay put in the theater and be entertained.

One of the main reasons why the film will do well is Akshay Kumar. He completely gets into the character of the ‘Happy’, the male protagonist, and plays his part with perfection. You cannot help, but adore the gullible Sikh guy. He charms you with his simplicity and amuses you with his perfect comic timing. Akshay has once again proved that comedy is definitely his forte. Katrina Kaif is, as usual, looks pretty and does justice to her character.

As for the other performances, Ranvir Shorey, Sonu Sood, Javed Jaffery and Om Puri definitely entertain you. However, the film does have its share of flaws too. It keeps a fast pace in the first half, but slows down a bit in the second half. Some of the scenes, like the pre-climax with Javed Jaffery, could have been edited. The much-awaited Snoop Dogg's hip-hop song is at the end, when nobody feels like sitting back. All in all, ‘Singh is Kinng’ is a loud comedy. Leave behind your brains and you will definitely be laughing throughout the movie.

Singh is Kinng Pre-release Review

Singh is Kinng is undoubtedly one of the most keenly anticipated movies of 2008. The audience is waiting, with baited breath, for this movie to hit the cinema halls. Directed by Anees Bazmee, this romantic comedy is scheduled to be released on 8th August 2008, under the banner of Studio 18 Blockbuster Movie Entertainers. The star cast of the film includes Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Neha Dhupia, Javed Jaffrey, Ranvir Shorey, Kamal Chopra, Om Puri, Sudhanshu Pandey, Sonu Sood, Kirron Kher, Yashpal Sharma, Manoj Pahwa, Chayan Sarkar and Brad Mc.Murray. ‘Singh is Kinng’ revolves around the life of Happy Singh (Akshay Kumar). He is truly a king at heart - brave, compassionate, and very helpful. Although he has all these good qualities, he is also a human being, which means he is flawed to some extent - foolhardy, accident prone and perhaps even a little naive. Circumstances always betray him and his efforts to do any good almost always have a negative impact on the whole situation. The villagers are literally fed up by Happy, because whatever he tries to do, almost always turns bad. One day because of their desperation, the villagers come up with a plan.

They decide to send Happy on a long trip to bring Lucky Singh (Sonu Sood) back to Punjab. Lucky is known as the 'King' of Australia’ because he is the boss of the underworld there. The villagers tell Happy that because of Lucky, Punjab's image in Australia is being spoiled. So, now Happy leaves on a journey that takes him halfway across the world. He is happy to take on this 'mission' and starts off his journey for Australia, accompanied by his friend, Tony Singh (Om Puri). In Australia, Happy meets a beautiful girl named Sonia (Katrina Kaif) and falls in love with her instantly.

Sonia is a very fun loving and chirpy student, studying law. Her only flaw (if it can be called that) is that she loses her cool when confronted with criminals. However, nothing prepares Sonia for her fate as she finds herself surrounded by some gangsters. On the other hand, things take a funny turn as Happy runs into a series of misadventures. All these comic misunderstandings and shocking moments lead to an accidental wedding too. Will Happy be able to bring back Lucky to Punjab? What will happen to Happy and Sonia’s love story? The answer will when u watch the movie...
