Cast: Vijayakanth, Navneeth, Seril Brindo, Biju Menon
Direction: Madesh
Music: Srikanth Deva

Vijayakanth ’s 150th film ‘Arasangam’

Actor-turned-politician Vijaykanth predictably utters punch-lines galore in "Arasangam" (government), which can be interpreted by his fans as verbal brownie points scored against bigger political opponents. This Madhesh directed Tamil venture accords legislator Vijaykanth a free hand to exhibit his brains and brawn to get endorsement from rural audiences.

Vijaykanth plays 'Arivarasu' - a name that translates in English as 'monarch of intelligence' - heading a police training academy and living a nondescript, happily married existence. His wife is played by Punjab import Navneet Kaur.

Arivarasu is asked to solve the mystery behind the murder of important scientists and entrepreneurs who have created a path-breaking invention to help India and the kidnapping of a senior police officer, who is his brother-in-law Manoj (Biju Menon).

Instead of being another Rambo, Arivarasu uses his brain. He traipses around Canada where he is assisted by Lara, a Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer (Seril Brindo), rescues Manoj and extricates the nation's future from the baddies headed by Chandru (Rahul Dev).

Vijaykanth acts his age and puts in a spirited performance. The action is slickly choreographed by "Rocky" Rajesh.

In a word, "Arasangam" is a treat for diehard Vijaykanth fans thanks to a passably decent screenplay.

Well.. I should say hats off to Vijaykanth!! for all the political drama and punch dialogues he leaves about inefficiency of politicians..!!
by making a movie during his political career isnt he the first one breaching what he preaches all the time?? does he consider his job as an MLA as something he does for freelance or charity? Isn't his acting which is 100% a conmmercial venture (unless he is donating the proceeds to UNESCO) fully equivalent to a govenment servant running his private company during his official tenure?
we get angry when we go to a government office and see a government employee busy with his private chores or private company, not attending to our duties. We cite tax payers money etc.. then what about Vijaykanth, who is elected by the people, who has pledged his 5 year tenure for the people (leave the cost of running the parliament, expenses for MLA's paid by tax payer's money)?
And above all irony he is vocal about citing inflation.. waste of expenditure and so on!!!
Oh.. i just forgot.. he needs to fund his political campaign after 5 years.. no wonder he needs to work hard in his movies so that he can continue to serve his beloved people!!!
